HP Velotechnik – From an Idea to a Successful Brand
Visionary Founders and Their Passion
The story of HP Velotechnik begins with two creative minds: Paul Hollants and Daniel Pulvermüller. While still at school, they developed a fully suspended cabin trike and won the prestigious JUTEC design competition with it. The foundations for a company had been laid. During their studies, they founded HP Velotechnik in 1993 and have devoted themselves ever since to optimising cycle technology for active people.
Today, HP Velotechnik employs around 50 people, manufactures around 2000 recumbent bikes each year and exports them around the world – from Europe to Australia, Japan and the USA.

At the modern factory in Kriftel, Hesse, the recumbent bikes are carefully made by hand. High-strength aluminium alloys (AL7005), precision CNC-milled parts and robust forged components ensure maximum stability and durability. A particular highlight is the Scorpion main frame tube with its 2 mm wall thickness – it provides 34 % greater torsional rigidity than comparable steel tubes, resulting in outstanding riding stability.
