- Read the model number on the component, such as the rear derailleur or brake. The bicycle brand alone is not enough.
- Search the Shimano portal using the complete model number.
- UM = user’s manual, DM = dealer’s manual, EV = exploded view. Model numbers, document codes and spare-part numbers are different identifiers.

Bosch eBike Systems
- Identify the system: the smart system or Bosch eBike system 2. For older systems, find the appropriate archived manual.
- Read the component name and type identification on the display, battery, charger or drive unit.
- Select the manual for the specific system and component. An identical product name does not confirm compatibility.

Will the part fit your bike?

Ask about a part or versionHow does the frame number help?
It can help the manufacturer identify the bike and its original specification. Its meaning varies by brand. Do not assume a general rule for extracting the year or model. Automatic frame-number lookup is not yet available here.
Is the manual edition the same as the model year?
No. The edition identifies the document version. Part selection also depends on the model generation, equipment and possible modifications. Always compare the specific version.
