The Delta tx offers a range of steering, seat and drive options. Universal-joint steering and Smart Pedaling extend the choice. What matters is finding the combination that suits the way you get on and off, your seating position and how you operate the trike.

Update: Delta tx wins Eurobike Award 2026
The Delta tx received a Eurobike Award at Eurobike 2026 in June 2026, in the E-Bikes category. According to the press release, this is HP Velotechnik's ninth Eurobike Award. The jury particularly highlighted how the Delta tx can help people with physical limitations access cycling, social participation and independent mobility. The universal-joint steering was also praised for combining easy access with familiar, ergonomically positioned controls.
The Delta tx becomes even more practical for everyday use
The HP Velotechnik Delta tx is designed as a comfort-oriented recumbent trike for everyday use, leisure and longer rides. The new features announced for Eurobike 2026 focus particularly on ease of operation, motor assistance and adjustment to different physical needs.
These developments are intended to benefit older riders in particular, as well as people with limited mobility or leg strength. The additional carrying options also make the Delta tx more versatile for shopping, outings and everyday journeys.
HP Velotechnik Delta tx with new universal-joint handlebars
The most noticeable new feature is the above-seat handlebar with a universal joint. Conventional above-seat handlebars swing sideways when cornering. The new universal-joint design enables precise steering with comparatively small arm movements.
This can be particularly helpful if shoulder or arm movement is restricted. The design is also intended to make the trike easy to steer accurately on narrow paths and when manoeuvring.
The handlebars can be folded forwards to make getting on and off easier. A locking lever allows the handlebar unit to be used in a fixed position or kept adjustable while riding. Length, height and angle can be adapted to the seating position and personal preferences.
Smart Pedaling provides assistance for riders with limited leg strength
HP Velotechnik offers the BAFANG M410 HD mid-drive motor as a new drive option, with a maximum torque of 90 newton metres. A distinctive feature is Smart Pedaling software, developed jointly with BAFANG.
A mid-drive motor normally responds primarily to how much force you apply to the pedals. This can be a problem for people with limited leg strength: the less force they can apply, the less assistance they often receive.
With Smart Pedaling, an ergonomically positioned thumb lever switches the control from torque-based to rotation-based assistance. Depending on thumb pressure, the motor then provides continuous assistance up to the maximum permitted assistance speed, even with only light pedalling.
The system can therefore give riders greater confidence on longer journeys. If your strength declines during a ride, assistance that is easy to regulate remains available. The BAFANG motor can also be combined with the Rohloff E14 electronic hub gear system.
HP Velotechnik has announced the new drive system for models beyond the Delta tx. The BAFANG M410 HD with Smart Pedaling is also planned for models in the Scorpion and Gekko ranges.
New ErgoMesh seat for shorter riders
With the ErgoMesh Premium XL Short, HP Velotechnik is extending its seat range with a version designed particularly for shorter riders. The seat combines a generous seat base with a slimmer, shorter backrest.
This is intended to provide a better fit and support without making the seat base too small. The narrower backrest also gives the arms more freedom of movement.
Riders using HP Velotechnik's Hands-On-Cycle can also benefit. With this hand drive, the cranks and steering are operated by the arms. A slimmer backrest provides additional room for these movements.
More room for luggage and shopping
The Delta tx also gains more luggage options. A luggage box is available for the rear rack, suitable for carrying valuables, shopping or delicate items, for example. The box is water-resistant, padded inside and lockable.
A rack above the front wheel is another new addition. Its loading platform is approximately DIN A3 in size. According to the manufacturer, a matching basket is included.
An optional Racktime adapter allows different bags, baskets and other carrying solutions to be attached. As the luggage is in front of the rider, it remains easy to see while riding. With a suitable basket, the front rack can also be used to carry a small pet.
With the new carrying options, the Delta tx's maximum luggage capacity increases to up to 60 kilograms. The total permitted payload, including the rider, is 145 kilograms.
More than 400 custom colours available
Alongside the standard colours Blue Flash and Sparkling Iron Gray, HP Velotechnik will offer more than 400 custom colours for the Delta tx. This allows a highly individual specification in both equipment and appearance.
The most suitable colours, seat sizes, gears and accessories depend on how the trike will be used and the rider's physical needs. Personal advice and a test ride are therefore particularly worthwhile for an individually configured trike.
Above-seat or under-seat steering?
In addition to the new universal-joint handlebars, the Delta tx is available with under-seat steering. With this version, the arms rest comfortably beside the body, while the view ahead remains largely unobstructed.
To accommodate different rider heights, the sliding seat tower and handlebar mount are linked on the under-seat steering version. After releasing three quick-release clamps, the entire unit can be moved along the frame. The seat and handlebars therefore maintain their positions relative to one another.
Technical specifications alone cannot tell you which steering version will suit you best. The universal-joint handlebars provide particularly clear access and short steering movements. Under-seat steering, on the other hand, allows a very relaxed arm position. Trying both systems on a test ride lets you experience the differences directly.
Delta tx pricing and availability
The manufacturer's information for model year 2026/2027 lists universal-joint steering and Smart Pedaling as equipment options. We will establish which version can currently be ordered, its price and delivery timing for your preferred configuration. The price of a specific cycle on offer is shown on its product card.
The new features were presented at Eurobike in Frankfurt am Main from 24 to 27 June 2026.
Which Delta tx is right for you?
Universal-joint handlebars, under-seat steering, different seat sizes, motors, gears and luggage options make the Delta tx highly configurable. This also makes it more important to match the specification carefully to your height, mobility and intended use.
At trike-x-press, we advise you on suitable equipment and explain the differences between the available steering and drive options. A test ride gives you time to compare seating position, access, steering and motor assistance.

On your test ride: compare each option separately
| Option | Check during your test ride |
|---|---|
| Universal-joint handlebars | Can you get on, steer and brake without having to stretch to reach the grips? |
| Smart Pedaling | Can you regulate the assistance precisely when applying only light pedal pressure? |
| Different seat size | Do back support, shoulder clearance and pedal reach work well together? |
| Additional luggage | Are the individual rack limits and the total payload limit still met? |
A new feature will not necessarily benefit everyone. What matters is the approved combination that can actually be ordered for the specific cycle.
